Parking, 2026
Plants, hessian sacks, bronze granite, blonde granite, salvaged steel, soil, paint, and gravel.

4 Langridge Street, Collingwood

Created in consultation with Winsor Kerr and SBLA Studio

Parking takes the form of a temporary grassland in the heart of Collingwood. The work transforms a single parking space into a site of potential, softening the hard city surface with a circular arrangement of hessian sacks and dancing grasses. Parking is a test site and part of my ongoing research into the garden as sculpture, and sculpture as garden.

As the granite arrived onsite, I watched the weight of accumulated histories hover almost weightlessly, before crashing violently onto the asphalt and splitting the surface open. That crack is now my favourite part of the work. Parking will be activated through a series of performances and conversations over the coming months, follow us @4langridgestreet. In the meantime, stop by, sit on a rock, watch the grass grow, and perhaps even share your water with the plants.

Thank you to Callum Morton, Adam Afiff, Bradley Kerr, Shannon Winsor, Simone Bliss, Matt Wakelin, Bede Brennan, Casey Moore, Sophie McAlpin, Barbie Kjar, and Dad.
